Shabaz Mohammed is the Deputy Science Director for Next Generation Chemistry and Head of Mechanistic Proteomics, and also teaches at the University of Oxford.

Shabaz completed his Masters and PhD at the University of Manchester. He started working in protein chemistry and then eventually proteomics – first during his post-doc in Denmark, and then he continued this research when he started his own research group in The Netherlands.

Proteins are the workhorses of living cells. Proteins operate in a highly dynamic environment interacting with other proteins and other types of molecules including sugars, lipids and nucleic acids.
