This competition is now closed the winners will be announced in September.
This year marks the centenary of Rosalind Franklin’s birth and is an exciting time for the institute named in her honour. As we prepare to open our new building on the Harwell Campus which will house our world-leading technologies, we are looking for images from our member institutions to celebrate both our namesake and the interdisciplinary work she has inspired. The winning images will be placed on permanent display in the building and unveiled at our opening event. One image per member institution will be chosen as a winner, with overall winners awarded in each category.
We are looking for images in three categories: fact, experience, and experiment.
Each member winner and overall category winner will be awarded a £100 prize.
These images can be submitted by any staff member or student working at one our member organisations (a list of members can be found here).
Image requirements:
- Images can be real life, artistic, or show a scientific result (e.g. microscopy).
- Images must be supplied in high resolution (suitable for large format digital printing. Images unsuitable for printing will not be considered).
- Images showing people must have the written permission of those people to be included in the submitted image, and for their image to be displayed should the image win
- Images must not breach any copyright laws, or contain any offensive material.
Entry requirements:
- Entrants can enter a maximum of three images per category (but do not have to enter in every category).
- Entries must be submitted using the form supplied, with an image title and maximum 50 word caption.

- Entrants must declare that they are the creator of the submitted image.
- The Rosalind Franklin Centenary Image Competition will open on 14th April and close on 25th July, with the winner being announced in September.

Judging:
- Images in the three categories will be judged by a panel appointed by The Franklin, including our director Professor Jim Naismith.
