Dr Mariia Lopatniuk

Senior Postdoctoral Research Associate

Mariia earned her master’s degree from Lviv University in Ukraine before joining Prof. Luzhetskyy’s group at Saarland University in Germany to pursue her Ph.D. Her research focused on optimizing Streptomyces host strains to enhance the production of natural products through ribosome engineering, and the derivatization of ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides. After completing her Ph.D. in 2020, Mariia continued her work at Saarland University as a postdoctoral researcher, where she focused on discovering new natural products from Actinobacteria by activating silent biosynthetic gene clusters. In 2024, Mariia joined the Franklin as a Postdoctoral Scientist to investigate post-translational mutagenesis of proteins.
