    Our location

    The Rosalind Franklin Institute is based within the Rutherford Appleton Laboratories on the Harwell Campus. Anyone visiting the Franklin will first have to check-in at the RAL reception.

    By car

    The Campus is located directly off the A34, accessed from Junction 13 of the M4 motorway in less than 10 minutes (9 miles). Junctions 8 and 9 of the M40 are both within 30 minutes of the Campus. Use postcode OX11 0FA for satellite navigation.

    A Harwell LiftShare service enables members of the community to share spaces in cars commuting to and from Harwell.

    By bus

    Harwell Connector – a dedicated bus shuttle service, consisting of 4 buses per hour (in each direction) between 07:00 and 19:00 Monday to Friday, serving the Didcot Parkway Rail Station to Harwell Campus route (numbered X32 and 32A)

    The Science Transit Shuttle service runs every half an hour between 7am and 7pm connecting Harwell Campus to Oxford University for the use of people commuting between the two sites.

    By train

    Didcot Parkway Mainline Rail Station is only 5 miles away, with direct services to Central London (Paddington) in less than 45 minutes and Oxford City Centre in less than 15 minutes. A frequent bus service from the Campus serves both Oxford and Didcot Parkway rail stations.

    By plane

    London Heathrow and Southampton airports are less than one hour by road.  Gatwick, Birmingham, Bristol and Luton airports can all be reached in less than 1.5 hours from the Campus.
