Caroline is a non-practicing solicitor of the senior courts; formerly a senior equity partner in global law firm Ashurst LLP, where she worked from 1992 until 2016. During which time, she held a number of leadership positions, and both built and led the European employment, incentives and pensions team. She has lectured and published widely on her practice areas and related corporate governance.
After leaving private practice Caroline moved into HE as a Council member at research focussed Cranfield University, leading on people related issues, sitting on the finance committee and chairing the remuneration committee.
She also held the position of executive Dean at the post graduate campus of the University of Law in the City of London from 2021-2023.
She continues to be involved in a number of HE social mobility and access bodies including as a school governor in an all girls, non selective state school in London, as an advisor to international AccessEd, and is a former director and trustee of The Brilliant Club.
Caroline is a board member of the Quality Assurance Agency for HE and has most recently been appointed to the board of Generation UK and Ireland focussing on training in technology to increase employability.
