Dr Ryan McNamee

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Ryan was born and raised in Northern Ireland and spent 5 years in Belfast at QUB studying chemistry. He completed his MSci in Dr Peter Knipe’s lab investigating organocatalytic methods. He also undertook a year’s placement at GSK, working on severe asthma treatments. From QUB, Ryan moved to Oxford to pursue a DPhil in strained ring systems within Prof. Edward Anderson’s lab and developed several innovative methods for functionalizing strain-release reagents. Feeling the call for a new challenge, he made a significant career move into chemical biology in the MacMillan lab at Princeton as a postdoctoral researcher to expand their μMap platform. During this time, he developed a novel methods for glycolipid proximity labelling and photoredox construction of ketones
