We are excited to be putting out a call for 12-week projects that will form part of the first year of our new Franklin PhD programme. Our PhD programme will begin in October 2021 with the 12-week projects getting underway at the beginning of 2022.
The proposed projects need to be interdisciplinary in nature, novel, innovative and centred around the Franklin technologies.
Following their 12-week projects, students will select their 3-year doctoral project, connecting supervisor and awarding university. We hope that many students will expand on their 12 week projects, using the experience and data from their Year 1. However, for projects to expand into a full PhD projects, they must cross at least two Franklin themes.
We welcome project proposals from any universities, research organisations and industrial partners to form a project proposal, but please note that a collaborating UK university will be necessary to expand a Year 1 project into a full PhD.
Students will be based full time at our Franklin hub in Harwell Campus for the duration of their studies, with potential travel / visits to collaborating organisations as necessary.

The deadline for submissions of project proposals is the 15th September 2021.
Once all submissions have been reviewed by the PhD Programme Directors (Professor Josephine Bunch and Professor Ben Davis) and they will be catalogued for our incoming students to select from in early 2022.
